Honors Art Exhibit

On Saturday, May 3rd the Honors Art Class held an art opening, exhibiting their work at the Sawyer Free Library. The room was filled with amazing art from every student in the class. It was a beautiful display of the creative journey we have taken this school year. Family members and friends came to celebrate with us and commend these students on an incredible year. Alec Anand, Andrew Caden, Taylor Cognato, Rosie Margetson, Caity O'Leary, Jennifer Palazola, Jessica Palazola, Sydeny Iwohn, Nina LoGrande, Matt Santos and Emily Russo~ You all hold a VERY SPECIAL place in my heart! Take a look at the unbelievable art that was on display and video I surprised them with!

Studio Art 1 students showing talent!

Gwen Koehne-Class of 2017
We have had some exciting new work coming out of our Studio Art I students. This class started at the end of January and has been full steam ahead. Designed primarily for freshman, this Studio Art I class has 13 freshmen, 5 sophomores, 2 juniors and 2 seniors. The Class of 2017 has been proving themselves to be a class filled with artists! We started the class off with some creative self portraits, have worked our way through a color unit and just completed painting our Andy Warhol inspired self portraits. I am blown away by some of the talent our freshman have! Just take a look and see at ALL the talent at GHS!

Birthday Blog

Happy Birthday to me!
I have to say that this year I was trying to forget about my birthday. It seemed that it would be an easy day to forget- with an impending bomb threat to the school- many students were not in attendance. I thought I would just sail through the day under the radar. NOPE! Not the case, thanks to my Honors Art class and a couple of very special students that arranged an amazing FRIDA KAHLO (my favorite artist) birthday cake and surprise party for me in my room!
It literallly MADE MY DAY! Thank you to all my students who make my job so awesome!

And just for the record, when you are an ART TEACHER,
you can have your
CAKE and EAT it too!
